Smart Floss® Activated Charcoal
Smart Floss® Activated Charcoal
Our Smart Floss Activated Charcoal has all the intelligence of our iconic Smart Floss. The added power of activated charcoal (coconut) adsorbs even more bacteria and tackles plaque, and the burst of natural lemongrass flavor gives it a fresh, bold taste. Like all the flosses in our Smart Floss Family, it gently expands between teeth to clean more efficiently than typical flosses.

Question (FAQ)
Does your floss contain potentially toxic PTFE or PFAS chemicals?
Does your floss contain potentially toxic PTFE or PFAS chemicals?
No, DrTung's does not use these potentially harmful chemicals in our products.
None of the flosses in our Smart Floss Family are made using PTFE—the floss material implicated by USA Today as being potentially toxic—nor are they intentionally treated with PFOAS, PFAS, PFOS, APFO and/or fluorine surfactants. Multiple research tests show that the amount of organic fluorine in our floss (said to reflect PFAS) is below the detectable range. PTFE material, although used widely for floss because it slides up and down easily between teeth, is also the worst-performing floss as far as plaque removal goes. (See our study comparing Smart Floss to Glide and other flosses).
Are your products eco friendly?
Are your products eco friendly?
Yes, we strive to make the most sustainable and environmentally friendly products possible. Here’s what that looks like:
Smart Floss Activated Charcoal:
Smart Floss Activated Charcoal is one of the most eco-friendly, effective dental flosses available.
Container:
Smart Floss Activated Charcoal comes in FSC-certified paperboard packaging which can be easily recycled.
Wax:
To ensure comfortable flossing and to keep the fibers performing effectively, we use a small amount of vegetable wax blend. To this we add our natural lemongrass essential oil. We do not use artificial flavors. We do not use microcrystalline or petroleum-derived wax. No forever chemicals, ever.
Floss material:
Like many flosses, Smart Floss Activated Charcoal is made of polyester fibers. Unlike other flosses, Smart Floss Activated Charcoal is made in a proprietary, patented process that gives that softer, expanded effect while flossing. It is made from the same fiber as our iconic Smart Floss, which is clinically proven to remove up to 55% more plaque than traditional brands.
Why don't we use a natural material like silk or cotton? We have opted not to use silk due to the heavy processing and the treatment of the silkworms. Plus silk cannot be processed in the same way as Smart Floss and thus would be less effective in removing plaque. Cotton was used as dental floss at one time, though it is not used any longer as it tends to fray or break easily. It is harsher on gums and not as effective.
